ACOR is proud to announce that in FY 2018 (October 2017 to September 2018), coinciding with ACOR’s 50th year in Jordan, we broke all previous records for total donations, number of new donors, and total individual donors. We started out the year with the goal of reaching 250 individual donations, and thanks to you we not only met that goal but exceeded it. All in all, a total of 281 individual donors contributed to ACOR in FY 2018, of which 76 had never donated before.

Individual contributions to ACOR’s Annual Fund allow us to maintain and improve our headquarters in Amman, which houses our library of over 44,000 volumes, periodicals, and documents on a wide range of topics. Thanks to your support, this library is open to the public six days a week, and we are proud to host researchers, students, and professionals both from within Jordan and from all over the world as they do important work in their fields.

Donations to this fund also enable us to pay the dedicated staff members who work tirelessly to keep ACOR’s mission alive, supporting our fellowship programs, community outreach, library facilities, the ACOR newsletter, the Archaeology in Jordan Newsletter, and much, much more. For this reason, it is the support of individual and family donors like you that keeps ACOR running as a world-class independent research center in Amman. You can see a full list of all those who donated in FY 2018 here.

Finally, we want to give special recognition to Joy Hebert, a teacher from Illinois who believed in ACOR’s mission. Ms. Hebert passed away in 2017, leaving ACOR a substantial legacy. We are truly grateful to Ms. Hebert for her generosity, which made this record-setting year possible.

All of us at ACOR extend our heartfelt thanks to our supporters for helping us exceed our goals for the year. If you have not yet donated, and would like to make a tax-deductible* contribution before the end of 2018, you can do so by sending a check to our Alexandria, VA office or online here. Please note that we will soon be compiling a 50th Anniversary Donor Wall which will recognize all those who have contributed over $1000 total to ACOR over the years. However, only those gifts made before December 31, 2018 will be eligible for inclusion, so donate today to make sure your gifts to ACOR are immortalized in this unique format.

If you are interested in learning more about how you can become a legacy donor by including ACOR in your will, or if you have questions about your donation history, please email Barbara A.
