SCHEP Chief of Party: Nizar Al Adarbeh

Nizar Al Adarbeh joined USAID SCHEP in September of 2015 as the Chief of Party (COP). Nizar has more than 14 years of professional experience in sustainable tourism and cultural resources management at non-profits, government agencies, and private sector entities. As Euro-Med Regional Projects Manager at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Jordan (2011-2015), and as the Executive Director of the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (2008-2011), Nizar managed national and regional projects focusing on scientific work and economic development, and contributed to the formulation of policies and strategies on culture, tourism and heritage. Nizar holds an M.A. in Conservation and Cultural Resources Management from the Yarmouk University and a B.A. in Sustainable Tourism Development from the Hashemite University. He has published scientific articles in international journals and contributed to several publications and scientific volumes. Nizar is an active member at the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and the International Association of World Heritage Professionals (IAWHP). 

As Chief of Party, Nizar oversees all of USAID SCHEP’s activities. This includes managing the project team; liaising with institutions such as the DOA, PDTRA, ASEZA, and MOTA; managing the communications strategy; representing SCHEP at national and international conferences; authoring publications on the project’s pioneering model; and much more. Nizar spearheaded the development of a successful project extension proposal from USAID (November 2018 – August 2022).
