TWLCRM Initiative Earns Top Honor

ACOR’s Temple of the Winged Lions Cultural Resource Management (TWLCRM) Initiative  received the Archaeological Institute of America’s 2015 award for Best Practices in Site Preservation in January of this year.

Christopher Tuttle, Executive Director of the Council of American Overseas Research Centers and former Associate Director of ACOR, received the award on behalf of the TWLCRM during the AIA’s annual meeting in January 2015.  The award, which honors exemplary work in site preservation and conservation, includes a cash prize that will help the TWLCRM support Petra’s communities. The TWLCRM Initiative, a collaboration between ACOR, the Department of Antiquities of Jordan, and the Petra Archaeological Park, is supported by the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation and ACOR’s USAID endowment.
